More than 48-bit “Deep Color”.

Here is a video that explains why the previous post, Secret Konami Cheat Code to high resolution PWM on your myki Light is so useful for LED lighting.

On the myki light you can see both blue and red channels are increasing in brightness at the same speed, with the blue LED in 8-bit mode and the red in 16-bit mode. The difference is stunning.

At around 23 seconds, both LEDs are at 1/256 of full power, and the blue LED finally turns on to it’s dimmest setting.

The new feature should make color fades way smoother, and also make it possible to implement parabolic or exponential mappings to better simulate the eye’s response. Super excited!

More information about mapping functions, colorspaces, and use of white in color changing LED lights coming soon.
